When I said 'bigger' I meant in terms of blogging really.

TGB is probably the place for Media Center forums/discussions, but there's a lot of other sites - such as missingremote that have better 'news' sections. Of course, there's also ... err, whatchamightcallit ... Media Center Show website, which seems to mention software every so often.

If you're in a team, you'll be able to blame it on your team members, and that's one of the reasons for working in a team, but if you're working by yourself and your program has errors, all you can do is blame it on Microsoft.

I think I finally found a link on thegreenbutton.  I searched around for a while... and didn't find anything so suffered through VMC, about 2 months later searched and found myTV... ohhh  Thank God :)

I learned about myTV through another plugin.  A service called MceBuddy which is used to compress a recorded tv show down to something managable (like x264/xvid) and move it out of the Recorded TV folder.  Some people in the beta forum were suggesting a combo partnership with myTV as a rounded full-service utility.  I began investigating myTV from there, and somehow lost total intrest with MCEBuddy once I realized my computer took hours to compress minutes.  Downloading on my home server from the closet and just watching shows from myTV works best.  And then for stuff I don't care to keep and just watch whenever I record with the tuners and M$'s bloated dvr-ms format.

Interesting. Can't remember seing any referals from that forum/site nor have I heard from the developer of MceBuddy. Perhaps I'll check it out :)

Interesting plugin...it seems like it would be a great partner to myTV.  Other then slow encodes would you recommend it?

When I last used it, I would have to say 'maybe'.  Encoding times aside, the program itself seemed solid.  I was having a lot of trouble getting the commercial skip functions to work right, so I gave up.  I never official announced I was leaving the beta test group with them though, so I probably still have access with them.  Another thing I was kinda hoping for was a way for MCEBuddy to store the metadata from the bloated DVR-MS info.  Then I was going to try to get Arne motivated to include some programming in myTV to allow it enable/disable subtitles (closed captioning) as well as detect the show info via the metadata rather than just by filename.  Mr Admin may remember that from a while ago.  Don't really know what happened there.  But like I said, since I was having trouble with the comskip and lengthy encoding time, I just kinda lost intrest in messing with it.  I may check it out again some time, he must have made some more improvements since I last tried it.

Hmm maybe a good place to advertise would be lifehacker? I mean, personally, I think this program is impressive enough that if it was brought to their attention, someone would be inclined to blog it. Just a thought

Hmm.....well myTV sorta kidnapped my husband.....therefore I checked it out and this is where I found him. I am just wondering when he will return:-)

so has your wife still not seen you since then Stick out tongue

I found it after reading some stupid comments on TGB, while looking at another app, the guy saying mytv was a rubbish product, he sounded like a moron so i took a look at the trail version which was outstanding, so i bought it and use it everyday, so his little propaganda campaign backfired a bit. Big Smile

I too came to MyTV from TGB.

I see him on occasionsAngry

I too got word of myTV from TGB.  I had just migrated from XP MCE to VMC around September 07, and started to look at archiving TV shows.  IIRC I did a search on "TV Archive" and found this post.  http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/217417.aspx

Well, one look at the Helix display, I knew I had to try it out.  I'm glad I did.  At first I just had it in my test machine.  I bought a license after trying it out.  Now a year later, I bought 2 more licenses.  I now have it on 3 machines.  My wife loves it.
