Hi, need some advise on how to get to the bottom of a problem.

I recently rebuilt my HTPC/new vista install etc... and in doing so I moved all my storage out of the HTPC into my Mac Pro. So I now have 4 network drives in the mac pro containing all my media. I connect the HTPC (Vista Home Premium) to the Mac via crossover cable and have SMB sharing working fine. i.e. I have the drives mapped as network drives in Vista and can access and play all the media fine.

I set up  MyTV without issues (alongside my movies) and have all the shows from my 2 TV network drives working fine in MyTV. If I add an episode to an existing TV series it shows up in myTV without issue.

If however I add a new folder, i.e. an entirely new show, MyTV picks it up and asks me to add it to the database which appears to work but then it does not show in the library and just keeps asking me to re-add it every time I start it up. Any ideas?

Do you get the status update messages in the lower right hand corner of the screen in myTV and do the various buttons in the popup (Refresh metadata for instance) work as expected? If not, did you run the netsh commands correctly?

If you're in a team, you'll be able to blame it on your team members, and that's one of the reasons for working in a team, but if you're working by yourself and your program has errors, all you can do is blame it on Microsoft.

myTV can't access files on a network drive (or its not consistant anyways). You need to use the the UNC path instead (\\Server\Path\To\Files). Once you've done that. It should work just fine.

About the not adding the new show. Have you checked the Event Viewer for any errors?

Thanks! I'm a total idiot who apparently does not need to read install instructions any more. Doh!

Haha, don't worry - not running those commands had me going for about an hour when installing on a testmachine also :)

It's included in the installer now though, so they're a thing of the past from the next reelase.
